Tuesday, February 5 I got up at 7:00 a.m., and so I had an hour before Orthros. As usual, I made myself some coffee by putting into a half-empty water bottle a spoonful of the instant coffee I had brought and shaking it up. Needless to say, it tastes awful like that without any sweetener or cream, but it’s not like I had any other safe way to get my caffeine.

Tuesday, January 29, 2019 Once again I find myself unexpectedly flying out to India. Since my last trip there four months ago which can be read about in my previous journal much has happened. In November some professional translators in India were hired to translate into Telugu the book by Fr. Seraphim Bell entitled “Understanding the Rich Heritage of the Orthodox Church.” This book answers the questions that Protestants typically have when exposed to Orthodoxy.

It is hard to believe that I am now on a plane flying over the Pacific Ocean towards Hawaii and then to India. It was just three months ago that I was peacefully sitting in my cell at St. Anthony’s Monastery—the same cell I had lived in for the wonderful past 23 years of my life.
